ABBEY HEY 0 CLITHEROE 0 IF Saturday had been one of the most memorable occasions in Clitheroe's recent history then last night was one of the most forgettable.
Driving rain and a swirling crosswind made for a dour tussle at Abbey Hey with manager Dave Burgess happy to come away with a point to maintain his team's hopes of promotion from the NWCL First Division into the UniBond League.
Burgess named the team which finished the epic FA Vase win at Chippenham at the weekend but apart from a half chance which fell the way of Neil Spencer in the first half, Clitheroe never really looked like scoring.
And the same could be said of the hosts whose best chance came when a free kick hit the top of the Clitheroe bar 20 minutes from time.
Apart from that it was a night dominated by the conditions.
Burgess said: "Very much a case of after the Lord Mayor's Show and the lads never really got going.
"Having said that the conditions weren't just unpleasant they were dreadful and it was probably just as awful a game to play in as it was to watch," he added.
