WHERE has it all gone wrong? Thirty-four years employed, never claimed a penny, always taught my children to pay their way in life -- taxes, road tax, TV licence, council tax and any other debt incurred -- and above all, to be honest. For what?
I have just been made redundant, but the boss's son is now doing my job. Got to go to court, but that takes an age. After three months, sign on and what am I entitled to?
The grand total of £52 -- to support a wife who earns £65 per week and keep up the payments on a £70,000 house bought while employed.
I can't even get a pair of much-needed glasses or dental work because the state rules that I can't.
Transport costs to many interviews have to be met from the £52. We cannot get any more from anywhere. A 19 year old gets £41.80 and lives at home.
Perhaps I should live with my mother.
Yet if I was to enter the country and claim that I was being persecuted and wanted asylum what would I get? A sight more than I am getting now and I would not have had to pay a penny into the system.
Yes, I am a tad-miffed with it all, but it's not until you are actually affected that you realise that something is terribly wrong.
