AN inquest was opened on Friday (March 2) into the death of a Bury-born French rugby league star.
Relatives of Nicholas Nuttall, who was born in the borough 31 years ago, gave evidence of identification during the brief hearing.
Mr Nuttall's body was found suspended at his home in Audes by French authorities on February 23. A note indicating the professional player's intentions was discovered in his flat.
The inquest was adjourned pending further investigations into the cause of Mr Nuttall's death.
An inquest is due to open shortly into the death of a Prestwich man from a suspected drugs overdose.
Mr John David Fitton (34) was discovered dead in an armchair at his apartment in Kersal Road on Saturday morning (March 3).
