BOLTON Mountain Rescue Team has gone on-line.
The team, which provides search and rescue cover in the Bury area, has been awarded an Internet-ready PC and one-year access to the Internet by British Telecom Community Connections, a UK-wide scheme helping connect local communities to the web.
Bolton MRT was one of hundreds of groups that entered the North West region of the scheme and impressed judges with their ideas on how an Internet-ready computer would benefit their community.
The team plans to use the computer to access the National Mountain Rescue website, as well as to receive communications from teams throughout the country via the "newsgroups" system.
The award also coincides with the launch of the team's own website at www.boltonmrt.org.uk.
