A BUILDING to grace the new millennium is taking shape for members of Radcliffe's Bridge Methodist Church.
Phase One of the ambitious renovation programme for the Milltown Street building has now been completed.
Improvements and adaptations totalling £70,000 have been carried out upstairs, with the money coming from grants and a four-year fund-raising drive.
There are three community rooms, a youth room, a coffee bar and two new toilets.
Church vicar, the Rev Nev Markham, said: "It can be used by community groups, church groups and youth groups and ultimately we hope to develop a resources centre with a book shop and an after-school homework club.
"The members of our youth groups are already using the new facilities and they are very impressed."
Work will now commence on a £60,000 ground floor improvement scheme. This will include a new worship area, a lounge and kitchen and more toilets.
Mr Markham said: "It is our intention to open up the entire building so that it can be used all day, every day. We expect it to be completely finished by the winter which is when we will have an official opening ceremony."
