PARENTS of disabled children were invited to discover a range of new services on Tuesday (March 6).
A new Re:d centre is being built in east Bury and will offer short breaks, youth projects and educational help for youngsters with physical or learning disabilities and their families.
All was unveiled at Tuesday's information day held at the Peel Room in Bury Town Hall.
The centre is on the site of the old Herbert Coates Centre, previously the Hurdles operational site, on Morley Street in Bury.
While the official opening is not until June, the service should be up and running in April.
The Re:d centre is a partnership between Bury Council, NCH, local charity Hurdles, and West Pennine Housing Association, with extra funding from the Health Action Zone.
Organisers have been working with children, parents and carers, who have influenced the design and helped identify the services which most suit their needs. They have also been involved in recruiting the staff of the new centre.
The centre's name came out of colour workshops where young people chose red as their favourite colour, leading to Re:d (Regarding Disability).
