Bold Miners 14 St Judes 13
THE Wiganers started strongly and only good defence, with full-back Ste Dumphy and scrum-half Mark Saunders promiment, restricted them to a penalty goal.
Bold hit back though with strong running by Chris Burgess and Damien Spiers, resulting in sub Nick Joseph crashing in under the posts for a try converted by Darren Anders who also added a penalty to make it 8-2 at half-time.
St Judes against started well after the break and quickly levelled the scores with a try wide out.
Anders edged Bold back ahead with a penalty but St Judes replied with two penalties and a drop goal to lead 13-10 going into the final stages.
Then in a grandstand finish, first Ian Honey and then Chris Burrows were tackled just short of the line before Paul Rigby grabbed the points for Bold with a cracking try in the last minute.
The Grundy Excavations man of the match award went to Rigby, with Dumphy, Saunders and Joseph also playing well.
