MEMORIES of soccer glory days at Vista Park were revived by publication (January 25) of a photograph of the legendary Earlestown FC team of the early 1950s.
Now, ex-player Billy Hughes, featured in that picture will doubtless stoke up further happy recollections by naming the entire line-up, many of whose names still trip eagerly off the tongues of old-time Earlestown supporters.
Here's how they appeared in that team shot: Back (left to right) Bill Harrop, Bill Pilling, Bruce Butler, Tony Long, Jackie Laughton, Bill Brennan, Jackie Wilson, Jack Smith (reserve goalkeeper) Sammy Jones (secretary). Front: Tommy Fruish, Billy Hughes, Jack Jaundrill, Norman Reeves, Frank Phillips, Reggie Edwards.
I'M sure countless veteran soccer fans from Earlestown will get a kick out of that memory-stirring list.
