THE spirit of Jaguar is alive and well at Rishton classic car specialists Autotune, with Spain the latest target for its export drive.
An 'Aristocat,' a replica of the famous XK marque, will shortly be attracting attention on the streets of Madrid, where a company is hoping to create a new market in classic British cars.
But this weekend, the car will turn heads at Car Craft 2001, at the Staffordshire County Showground which features a host of specialist car manufacturers.
Carolyn Taylor, who runs Autotune with husband Anthony, said the Aristocat was very much built within the spirit of Jaguar, who had given the replica car the company's blessings.
"The order from Spain was quite unusual," said Carolyn. "We usually supply the car in kit form for enthusiasts to build themselves, but we ended up with a full build for our customers in Madrid. The plan is that they will buy the kits from us and start to build them in Spain. We are very hopeful it will bring more orders."
Building your own Aristcat can cost anything from £5,500 to £13,000. The company's website -- www.kitsnclassics.com -- has more information.
