A BRAVE mum has overcome all the odds to beat cancer -- after being told by doctors her chances of survival were minimal.
Michelle Hampson-Hague, from Abinger Road in Garswood, was diagnosed as having secondary cancer of the liver last April and specialists at Clatterbridge Hospital offered little hope of her beating the disease.
But now, after 240 hours of chemotherapy, Michelle's cancer is in remission and she has turned her life around.
Single mum Michelle (42) told the Star: "Doctors didn't think I had a chance, but I'm a determined woman and I've come through it."
And the former retail network manager for Post Office Counters says she is going to devote much more time to eight-year-old daughter, Elizabeth.
She said: "This has definitely changed my life. Before I was a successful career woman caught up in the rat race, but now I have taken a step back and want to do something worthwhile with my life."
Since her diagnosis, Michelle has been helping other families who have been touched by cancer and has also become involved in charity work.
And as a token of gratitude to Clatterbridge, she organised a social event at St Mary's Club, Birchley which raised nearly £3,500 for the hospital. The evening included a disco, a raffle and a charity auction with contributions from local businesses with all proceeds going to the Clatterbridge Cancer Research Fund.
Michelle said the evening was a great success. "It was a truly wonderful evening and there was a very happy atmosphere. I am amazed that we raised so much money and there are still donations coming in."
She would also like to thank family and friends who supported her throughout her treatment, as well as a number of businesses who donated prizes including Asda, Safeway, Saints rugby club, Liverpool FC, Expressions Of Beauty, Ashton Lawns, Village Hair and St Mary's Catholic Club, The Sun Emporium and Hair Charm in St Helens, and The Beauty Emporium in Haydock.
