CHEADLE 1 CLITHEROE 4 CLITHEROE put together one of their best away displays of the season to grab three priceless points . . . and all of it after going a goal behind.
Watched by the management team from Taunton, their opponents in the semi-final of the FA Vase Clitheroe rested several players but still had too much for Cheadle.
The home side made the most of poor defending to take an early lead but the first of two Mark Stewart penalties levelled things up on 25 minutes after Neil Spencer had been fouled.
In the second half Clitheroe turned up the heat and scored three times in quarter of an hour to leave Cheadle rocking.
Stewart's second spot kick conversion followed a foul on Gary Jackson and then Jackson broke clear of the static defence to add number three with a low shot into the bottom corner.
Stewart was involved again quarter of an hour from time supplying a cross from which Matt Anderton headed home number four.
Manager Dave Burgess said: "It's been a satisfactory week and if we can go to Leek and pick up a win tomorrow, it will be the icing on the cake.
"The Taunton manager was feverishly taking notes but I know what it feels like, I did the same when I went to see them on Wednesday!"
The FA Vase first leg game at Taunton will be played next Saturday, March 17 with the return fixture at Shawbridge seven days later.
The final will be played at Villa Park.
