WITH all the computers and other modern technology, our council tax bills should be going down, not up. After all, businesses, who do not have a monopoly like the council, need to manage with fewer office staff to stay competitive.
Could someone at the council provide details of how many clerical and administration staff there are now, compared to five years ago, since which they have raised the tax by nearly 35 per cent.
They say £1,138,700 extra will be raised. How does that compare with the council tax arrears, poll tax arrears and rent arrears that they continually fail to address.
Perhaps the town hall bosses could do a little better. With their high salaries, short hours and fat pensions is it too much to ask?
