SCHOOLCHILDREN in St Helens will have the opportunity to work with professionals in the arts.
They have been chosen to pilot a creative partnership scheme, which aims to give them exciting opportunities to experience the arts and creativity at first hand.
The borough is one of 16 Creative Partnerships across the country, established by the Arts Council, and the £40 million scheme will give artists and arts organisations the opportunity to establish creative links with young people in schools. The scheme will help provide opportunities for schoolchildren to gain hands-on experience with working actors and technicians in local theatres and receive guidance from acclaimed artists giving master classes.
The project will also allow them to exhibit their work at local museums and work with professional producers in recording studios to record their own music. And if the scheme proves to be a success, it will be developed in other areas of the country.
