ST HELENS College has received a prestigious award for the second year running in recognition of their efforts during last year's European Week for Health and Safety.
St Helens College was among 20 North West recipients of the Health and Safety Executive award which marked the innovative input made by organisations participating in the week, for which the theme was back pain and musculoskeletal disorders - conditions that affect more people than any other industrial injury or disease.
A wide range of events took place, including safety seminars, demonstrations and safety poster competitions, involving not only College students and staff but also creche children, utility and emergency services, local companies, the St Helens Chamber of Commerce and the Health and Safety Executive.
The Health and Safety Executive staged regional awards events all over the country for the first time due to the high standards of entry and now each of the regional winners will go on to be considered for a national award at an event to be held in London at the end of March.
This year, the week takes place from October 15 and the theme will be 'Workplace Accidents'.
