CHILDREN at a primary school in Barnoldswick are hoping their sponsored bounces will take them all the way to a new classroom.
The youngsters at Barnoldswick Church School will see how many bounces on a bouncy castle they can complete in one minute to raise money for a mezzanine floor in their school.
It is hoped the new floor will provide space for a learning resource centre and will lead to improvements of the classroom directly below it.
The scheme will cost about £60,000, which the school is hoping to reach through sponsorship from local firms, fundraising events and they also intend to bid for government cash.
Head teacher Joyce Heaton, said: "It's absolutely desperately needed to ease accommodation difficulties we have been having and we are also hoping to improve the classroom underneath and the hall environment.
"If things go well it may be carried out during the summer holidays because, obviously, a project of this size would have to be done during the holidays. If not, it would be the following the summer.
"The DfEE is giving funding for school buildings and we have got to bid for it through the County Council, who have given us their blessing."
The children will take part in the 'Bounce for a Brick' event on Friday, March 23, at 1.30pm.
For every £1 they are sponsored, they will have their name put on a paper brick which will be pinned to a wall being created in school.
