A SCHEME for a replacement house at Syke Chalet, Sawley Road, Grindleton, has finally been approved.
The plan was formerly refused and an appeal dismissed but an amended design has been passed Ribble Valley Council.
The application makes significant changes to previous proposals which were to build a two-storey house with double garage and which were thrown out because it would have resulted in a development almost four times the original size.
Amended plans are for a single-storey home with attached garage measuring 10 metres by 8 metres. The walls are to be natural stone with an artificial stone flag roof.
The planning committee unanimously approved the new plan and the lesser impact its design would have on the amenity of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in which is stands.
Coun Graham Sowter said the fact amendments had been made to the original plan, which was refused and subsequently upheld by the Secretary of State, justifies the tough stance the planning committee takes on such matters.
