BURNLEY Hospital Radio presenter Chris Berry is talking himself into the record books.
His world record broadcasting challenge started at 10am on Saturday but Chris still has a long way to go if he is to smash the record of 73 hours 33 minutes.
Chris, who goes under name of Charlie Tuna, is allowed only a 15-minute break away from the mike every eight hours.
The event is being held to raise money for Hospital Radio, with 25 per cent going to needy departments at Burnley General.
The event was started by the Mayor, Coun Rafique Malik, and one of the studio guests who stayed with Chris until the early hours of Sunday was East Lancashire actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, best known as Hayley Cropper of Coronation Street.
The DJ is live on the worldwide web as he bids to break the international record.
P3 Computers, in Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley, have provided Chris with a web cam so that his attempt to smash the record can be seen anywhere in the world at the touch of a button.
Hospital Radio publicity officer Pam Tweedie said: "Everything has been absolutely brilliant and it is a case of so far so good. We hope Chris can now go on and smash the record."
In conjunction with the event a fun day was held throughout Saturday at Burnley's Asda store. AIR TIME: Chris Berry, alias Charlie Tuna, doing his Hospital Radio microphone marathon
