A FLOWER stall in Brierfield looks set to be closed down by Pendle Borough Council after complaints from a local retailer and nearby resident.
Brierfield and Reedley Committee will tomorrow night be advised by planning officers to take enforcement action to shut the unauthorised stall, which trades from a van.
The van has been parked on land between Colne Road and the railway boundary wall, just south of the Waggon and Horses, since at least the beginning of November.
A report to the committee says permission for change of use has not been sought although the van owner has been invited to apply for permission.
The report adds: "Although it is not the purpose of planning controls to protect individual traders from competition from new traders, it is legitimate to consider the effect of out of centre retailing activity on existing, established town centre and shopping areas."
