TWO American music professors will perform an encore to a concert at the Royal College of Music, London, with a one-off performance in East Lancashire.
John Gilbert and Ariane Alexander will lead a master class at Westholme School, Blackburn, with pupils from Westholme and other local schools on Wednesday followed by an evening concert at Westholme.
The visit was arranged by Mavis Fletcher who retired last summer as a music teacher at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn, after 20 years.
"A mutual American friend was looking for a venue for a concert so that the professors could see another part of the country outside London," said Mavis. "I asked Westholme because I knew it had a new theatre and the school had held concert series in the past. I thought it was a good opportunity for a unique music evening."
The professors will play at the Royal College tomorrow night before travelling to East Lancashire. The Blackburn concert will feature a range of classical music on piano and violin including Beethoven's spring concerto and pieces by Ravel.
Tickets for the evening performance are priced £5 for adults and £2 for concessions. They will be available on the door.
