A POPULAR figure in Atherton entertainment circles has died suddenly. Frank Glover, 72, was best-known for his musical involvement with Chowbent Unitarian Chapel and, even when he retired to Southport 13 years ago, maintained his strong links with the town. Mr Glover was featured in the BEN last year when, although still musical director at Chowbent, he simultaneously had hits with two shows in Southport.
Born and bred in Atherton, he was a lifetime member at Chowbent.
Despite the distance from his Southport home, he continued to attend the chapel once or twice a month.
He played the organ there for 50 years and until his death he remained musical director, returning for all special occasions.
As a student he chose education ahead of a life in professional music and went into structural engineering, working 45 years with Watson Steel.
Mr Glover leaves a wife, Barbara.
His funeral takes place Thursday (noon) at Chowbent Chapel.
