PLANS to install an illuminated sign and two flagpoles outside Boundary Bathrooms in Colne are likely to be refused by councillors.
A report to the Colne and District Committee, which will meet on Thursday states that the eight metre high flag pole advertisements and the sign containing illuminated letters would be 'excessive and should be resisted sue to their unacceptable effect on the street scene'.
It also said the advertising would lead to a cluttered appearance.
Boundary Bathrooms is one of three adjoining units on the Whitewall Industrial Estate which all display their own signage.
The applicant's agent pointed out that a similar sign exists on the roof of Morrisons Supermarket in Nelson town centre and that the lettering on the sign would not be as high as Morrisons. It was highlighted that the signs would be within a commercial environment in which there are already large illuminated signs.
