PEOPLE living near to the Council's Sagar Fold garages in Colne have submitted nine letters of objection and have a petition containing 143 signatures against proposed development on the site.
They believe that permission for housing development on the land, next to Colne Cemetery, would lead to increased traffic and congestion causing hazards for children crossing the roads, as well as an increase in on-street parking in areas including the busy Keighley Road.
But despite their protests, planning officers for the Council have recommended that the application be approved by councillors subject to certain conditions.
These include limiting the development to six houses, the applicant submitting a scheme of landscaping and full details of all the fencing and screen walls to be used and details of the new junction connecting the access road with Keighley Road.
A decision will be made at the Colne and District Committee meeting on Thursday.
