I note a letter received by a Brookfield Street Resident about irresponsible dog owners in The Avenue (Journal Feb 23).
Living on the The Avenue myself (not a dog owner) I fully agree with the comments.
My point is that why can the council not invest money into cleaning up this mess? They do not enforce the fines which are liberally displayed on every other tree. I have seen, on TV, a motorbike with attachments specifically designed for this task!
As the medical evidence points to dog faeces leading directly to disease, would you not think that the council would have the clearing up of this mess as a local environment health issue?
They have clear-up days shifting chewing gum and graffiti . . . why not dog poo?
Yours Sincerely
Mrs D Raikes
