Lancs Am League: BURY GSOB took the Premier Division derby honours with a 5-2 win over Walshaw Sports.
Three goals in the first seventeen minutes, two from Peter Lee and one from Paul Wilde, set Howerd Croft's side up for this second instalment of the double over their big rivals. Former Manchester City player Ian Thompstone got a goal back before the break.
Sports started the second period brightly hitting a post before Thompstone headed his second just minutes after missing a penalty. Bury added two goals in injury time through Mark Aston and Ian Riggs with right back Neil Haydock voted man of the match.
One of their best performances of the season saw Old Bolts to a 3-1 away win at top three outfit Prairie United. Stuart Williams was the creator of all three goals beating three men and crossing for Jules Ellis' first half header, taking the corner that Rob Dobie headed in for the second and setting up Dave Haslam for the third. Ian Budsworth was voted Bolts' outstanding performer.
Bolton County lost their 100% record in Division One with a 3-1 defeat by Royton Town. Things suddenly went wrong for County after ten straight wins in a game played at Brookhouse because the Bolton Road pitch was unfit. Taz Tobin got the goal with Michael Locke again winning the man of the match vote.
Radcliffe Amateurs stay top of the Division as a best performance of the season earned a 1-0 away win at Old Blackburnians.
Home victory
A game packed full of quality football from both sides was decided by the Ammies' Rick Smith's scrambled effort. Mark Maffia at centre back was voted MOM. Little Lever stay in the hunt as goals from Andy Fane, John Done, Phil Reagan and Chris Williams earned a 4-2 home victory over Roch Valley (Chris Berresford man of the match).
Horwich RMI won 3-1 away at Ashtonians with a first half goal from Scott Henderson and two in three minutes near the end from Rob Sharratt (mom) and Matt Hyland. A late winner from Rob Partington added to Simon Kirkby's earlier strike saw Thornleigh to a 2-1 home win over Smithills.
In Division Two despite dominating possession Bury Amateurs went down 1-0 at home to Burnley GSOB, Paul Butterworth voted star performer. Ainsworth battled back from a three goal deficit at Hayward to win 4-3 goals coming from Dave Parkinson (mom), Des and Barry Wilcox with the winner an own goal from the Hayward centre back.
Ainsworth 2nds lost 3-2 to Prairie td (Dave Steel, Rob Turner).
Bolton County 2nds won 3-1 at Newman College (Neil Horrocks 3 mom).
Bury Ams 2nds lost 3-2 at Sladians (Rob Beaver 2).
Bury GSOB beat Mostonians 5-3 after being 3-0 down.
Horwich RMI 2nds beat Spotland 5-1 (Andrew Dewitt 2, Peter Rainford, Mark Dawson, Mick Knowles).
Little Lever SC 2nds won 6-2 (John Baron 2).
Radcliffe Ams 2nds beat Royton 5-1 (Jamie Baldwin 3 mom, Russ Lord, Dave Dawes) 3rds beat Gregorians 4-1 (Phil Wheeldon 2, Andy Baron (mom), Kev Wynn).
Thornleigh 2nds beat Smithills 5-4 (Carl Carless 2, Ste Phillips 2, Paul Swift. Mom Alfie Glover) A team lost 4-2 to Walshaw (mom - goalkeeper Nigel Humfries). B team beat Broughton 3-1 (Warren Sumner, Chris Lever, Paul Davies. Mom Pete Cummings/Karl Duncan).
