SO Blackburn with Darwen Council are putting up allotment rents by 87.5 per cent. How they can justify this is beyond me and the other plot holders -- just because they want to bring the rents into line with other towns.
I could understand it if we got something for our money. The council says we get the benefit of a water supply, but we do not get it for nothing -- it is metred and we use it very carefully.
We only see someone from the ivory tower town hall when it is judging time. The rest of the year they are invisible.
To put it mildly, it is a disgrace and an insult to all the plot holders for all the work they do in keeping their sites neat and tidy. They take all and give nowt.
G PILKINGTON (Mr), plot 51, Broadfold Allotments, St Michael's Court, Daisyfield, Blackburn.
