TALKING TACTICS:
Rovers boss Graeme Souness decided to go like with like, matching Birmingham's rigid 4-4-2 system. And it paid handsome dividends -- the key being the work of wingers Damien Duff and Keith Gillespie in tracking back to stop the supply from the flanks
TURNING POINT:
Marcus Bent's strike after 41 minutes knocked the stuffing out of the home side and he couldn't have timed it better, giving Rovers a massive psychological boost going into the break
SET PIECE WATCH:
Birmingham nearly set-up a tense finale from a clever free-kick routine on the edge of the box but Bryan Hughes ended up shooting wide after a neat lay-off from David Holdsworth
