THE Foot and Mouth disease which is ravaging the country will not stop Radcliffe Borough's bid to climb into the top half of the UniBond Division One table at Kendal on Saturday.
Cumbria has been hard-hit by the cloven-hoofed devil disease, but Boro's John Stringer revealed that Kendal Town had confirmed Saturday's game would go-ahead at Parkside Road.
Boro go into the game with a fully-fit squad looking for their sixth successive victory after wins over the last two days against high-riding Vauxhall, who they beat 1-0 at Stainton Park last Saturday, and North Ferriby, beaten 2-1 on Humberside on Tuesday night.
Goals from David Bean and Lee Kissock -- his third in as many games -- gave Boro the points at North Ferriby after the home side had taken a 55th minute lead.
The win came on the back of Saturday's morale-boosting win over Vauxhall, who had been occupying the second promotion spot before Boro put the Motor men into reverse.
Kissock's 89th minute penalty did the job against Vauxhall and he will be lookming to carry it on in Cumbria on Saturday.
There's no reason why he and Boro shouldn't. Kendal were next to bottom before Tuesday night's games, so they should be there for the taking.
It's a double header of 'basement boy' fixtures for the Boro in their next two games for they are due to take on rock-bottom Congleton at Stainton Park next Tuesday night (kick-off 7.30pm).
Congleton have a new manager in UniBond newcomer Sean Connor after parting company with Glyn Chamberlain a fortnight ago.
And Boro boss Kevin Glendon, who was among Boro's substitutes at North Ferriby, warned: "It will be difficult. Both Kendal and Congleton will be desperate for the points.
"We played Kendal at our place three weeks ago and beat them 1-0, although we should have had more goals."
Kendal have just signed Jordan Burke from Southport and let Michael Bailey go to Workington and Glendon added: "Kendal didn't commit too many men forward. I would think they will do that at home because they will want to go for the win and that will suit us," said 39-year-old Glendon.
"But it doesn't matter who we come up against at the moment. We have a confident set of lads who feel they are going to win every game."
Glendon is aiming for a top six finish by the end of the season and says: "If we hadn't been involved in the FA Cup for so long we would have been competing higher up the table by now.
"But don't get me wrong. If we got the opportunity to do it all again in the FA Cup next season, we would take it!"
Skipper Mark Dempsey should be back for the Kendal trip after missing the game at North Ferriby and Eamon Kelly, available again after suspension, will also be in the squad.
Kelly had to kick his heels after being told by Glendon that he would not be changing the 14 for the game on Humberside following the much-hailed win over Vauxhall.
