Tyldesley 65
Bolton 15 TYLDESLEY RU set up an all or nothing clash with leaders De La Salle tomorrow after finally overpowering a spirited Bolton side at Well Street.
The visitors started brightly tackling well and showing some good touches in attack.
However Tyldesley made progress up the field with Darren Edge punching holes in the Bolton line. A loose ball in the Bolton 22 was snapped up by scrum half Lee Cunliffe and swiftly moved to the left where Edge popped up to score the opening try.
Both sides then traded penalties with Eddie Wallbank adding another to his tally for the season. Bolton then produced their best period of the match and after camping on the Tyldesley line for several minutes they crossed the line for a try which was converted to give them a 10-8 lead.
Tyldesley finally began to dominate and with a lot of possession now coming their way it was only a matter of time again before another try appeared. Lively flanker Lee Berrisford was first to score with his try converted by Wallbank and shortly before the break a penalty try was somewhat surprisingly awarded following a offside close to the Bolton line. With the conversion landed by Wallbank, Tyldesley went in at the break 22-10 up.
Bolton began to look tired and with Edge grabbing his second try early in the second half, the visitors heads went down. After pummelling the forwards for most of the game Tyldesley now began to unleash their back line and it wasn't long before both wingers Gary Corbett on the left and Graham Harrop on the right, both added tries. A double substitution by Tyldesley brought fresh legs onto the park and despite a brief Bolton fightback which saw a unconverted try scored the writing was soon on the wall as Berrisford again scored to be followed shortly afterwards by Corbett for his second try of the match.
Substitute David Sivill broke the line at halfway and raced in to score to the right of the posts and a flowing back line move ended with Harrop grabbing his second try. A final conversion by Wallbank moved Tyldesley to the 65 mark and was just the warm-up needed for the biggest game to be played at Well Street for several years.
Tyldesley are asking for the local public to come down and support the team tomorrow when leaders De La Salle visit Well Street for the game already billed as a title decider. Kick off is at 3pm.
Tyldesley seconds travelled to Bolton and ran in six tries in a 34-10 win. Tries came from Dave Peet (2), Phil Howarth, Ian Worsfold, Shaun Pulman and Steve Palin with two Mark Dickinson conversions. Outstanding on the day was Man of the Match Matt McGuire.
Tyldesley thirds where made to work by Bolton thirds for a 17-0 win with tries for John Fetherston and Shane Kaspierjacz the ebullient Peter Mannion converted both and landed a penalty.
