A 29-YEAR-OLD Baxenden woman was left "holding the baby" after her heroin addict partner left her six months pregnant and being pressured by his drug creditors.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Deanne Lisa Moore had tried to steal from a town centre shop to ease her financial plight.
But defence solicitor Basharat Ditta said that while the offence was straightforward Moore's life was not.
Moore, of Collier Street, Baxenden, pleaded guilty to stealing clothing worth £691 from Debenhams. She was remanded on bail until April 11 for the preparation of pre-sentence reports. David Macro, prosecuting, said Moore was caught on closed circuit television rolling three tops up and putting them into one of three carrier bags she had.
She was seen to do this on several occasions and was stopped as she left the store.
"It transpired there were 25 tops stuffed into these carrier bags," he added.
Mr Ditta said Moore's record showed that she had only started to get into trouble in 1999.
That coincided with her partner, a drug user, introducing her to heroin.
"It took a hold of her and she feels her partner wanted that to happen," said Mr Ditta.
"She is trying to feed herself, her five-year-old daughter and her unborn baby and it is not easy," he added.
