AFTER a winning start at home to arch-rivals Altrincham Aces, Blackburn Hawks are hoping for much the same, but face the daunting prospect of a Sunday trip to the notorious Ice Rink at Whitley Bay, home of the Warriors.
Always a partisan and intimidating venue, the Hawks know only too well what to expect and are ready.
Player-coach Bobby Haig said: "We will just have to go out and keep it tight. Once you reach the play-off stage it is all about giving your best.
"Whitley Bay are very strong and play a physical game so we will have to be on our guard. We want to keep it as close as possible then bring them back to our place."
Apart from Mark Gabbitas, who is still carrying a swollen ankle, Haig expects to have a full squad for the north-eastern foray. Meanwhile, things move on for the 10th Anniversary game at the Arena on Tuesday April 3, as further sponsors have come in to support the game which is raising funds for the NSPCC. Hyundai Car (UK) have pledged support as well as Rhino Sports of Sheffield, both joining local company Lex Auto Logistics in backing this prestigious event.
On the player front Manchester Storm coach Daryl Lipsey has agreed to take part in the game joining lots of old favourites at the match.
