A HORRIFIED mum saw her six-year-old son killed in a collision with a lorry.
Shoaib Astab, of Benson Street, Bury, suffered fatal injuries following the accident on Friday afternoon, which happened as the youngster walked along with his friend.
The little boy's mother was just a few yards behind him when the collision with the ERF tractor unit occured near the junction of Wellington Road and Killon Street, Bury.
Ian Crompton, 32, of Walshaw Road, Bury, had been driving the lorry along Wellington Road. The fatal accident occurred as he turned on to Killon Street just before 4pm.
Seconds before Shoaib had been walking along Parkhills Road, towards the busy Bury road junction, talking to a friend as his mother followed on just a few yards behind.
Despite desperate attempts to save the little boy, who was taken to Fairfield Hospital, Shoaib was pronounced dead.
Today Bury traffic made a plea for any witnesses to the accident to contact them on 0161 856 8072.
