HAVING already done the league double over Styal this season Golborne Sports had every reason to feel confident going into their Cup Semi Final.
But Styal got their revenge in a big way as the scoreline finished 5-1 in their favour.
After weathering early pressure Golborne looked the better side, beginning to create chances and in the 25th minute quick thinking by Kevin Cozens gave them the lead with a well taken direct free kick.
This was to last just 10 minutes when a failed clearance allowed Styal to equalise. In what was a well contested game some poor refereeing decisions turned the tide in Styal's favour. Two penalties either side of half time gave the visitors a 3-1 lead.
Golborne pushed forward and created a number of chances but were unable to convert them into goals. Two further goals were conceded in the last minutes as Golborne tried to salvage something from the game by pushing forward.
Sports Reserves won 2-1 at Vulcan Reserves, whilethe thirds celebrated a 3-1 win at Wood Albion Reserves.
