LISA Isles and six of her St George's classmates are celebrating their success in the Lions' Annual Peace Poster Competition.
A voucher worth £15 and certificate were presented to first prize winner Lisa in a school assembly last week and a further six Year 7 pupils received certificates of commendation.
Head of art, Valerie Fenney, said: "This is the first time we have had a Year 7 winner in any competition and it is very encouraging, not just for Lisa herself, but for the rest of the year group which can also share in the success."
Headteacher Elizabeth Warner explained her enthusiasm for these competitions: "We do run competitions in school and award certificates for all sorts of achievements. However, when another group or organisation makes the award it is particularly special and shows pupils at the school that their achievements are valued."
Mrs Fenney added: "I shall be making sure we take advantage of as many opportunities as possible to enter our youngsters for these external awards."
