A LANCASTER pensioner has spoken out about the terrible state of the pavements which makes it difficult for him to get about in his electric buggy.

Mr John Walker of Priory Walk claims that the area close to his home has paving slabs that are missing with others sticking up which makes it almost impossible for him to negotiate his way into town.

"It looks like a couple of paving stones have been dug up and thrown in the canal," said Mr Walker. "This has left gaps and others are stuck up which means my electric buggy can't get round them. It's outrageous. I've complained but no ones been out to fix them. There are quite a lot of elderly people who live round here and have buggies or walking sticks and find it difficult to get about, especially when the pavements are this bad."

A spokesman for the council said: "If the gentleman lets us know exactly where the location of the missing paving slabs is we will make arrangements to fix them."
