MEMBERS of Pendle Borough Council's policy committee will be asked to make a decision tonight on the plans to build 101 homes off Knotts Lane, Colne.
The application by Beazer Homes to develop the former railway sidings in the town was refused by the Colne and District Committee on February 15 due to lack of information and referred to the policy committee.
But since the meeting, Beazer Homes has appealed against the "non-determination of the application."
The Colne committee refused the plans because the Council's Urban Housing Capacity Study was still to be completed, there was a lack of information and analysis of traffic flow to the site and a lack of details on the effects on wildlife.
There has been continuous opposition from residents and two months ago 32 residents attended a public meeting to discuss the proposals.
Their main concerns were the destruction of land they believed to be greenfield, the effect on wildlife, the lack of demand for housing and the effect on the number of empty homes, as well as the increase in traffic and roads.
