THE former traveller who wrote to The Citizen on March 8 attempts to change my opinion of travellers and their way of life.

He/she puts forward a convincing case but the realities are somewhat different. Since March 5 there have been three caravans parked on the Lansil Industrial Estate. As the days has passed the vicinity has become a midden. There are of course the usual accompaniment of barking dogs.

Employees of the offices and the factories nearby use this car park and anyone who descends the steps at the rear of the caravans has to pass a row of excrement. I have done so this morning and was almost vomiting.

So, to the former traveller, I say this to his last paragraph, "We do not deserve to be treated the same, dignity and respect have to be earned," he should visit the above travellers to enlighten them. They would receive some tolerance if the area were kept clean and tidy.

It is up to the travelling people to sort themselves out because as usual the bad apples are spoiling the barrel.
