Lytham St Annes 1st XI 2 Leeds 0 LSA's outstanding first half performance gave them a well earned 2-0 win over Leeds.
The first 10 minutes and first goal were crucial and the LSA effort was rewarded when Craig Nuttall pounced on a rebound to put his side ahead.
He then scored again when Tom Atkinson made a superb break, pulled the ball back from the goal line to Nuttall who slammed the ball home.
LSA's defence then came into its own with a Mark Lees and Chris Kay prominent as was Daffyd Jones in goal.
The second half was very even with both sides having chances without scoring.
If LSA can maintain their first half performance then they might just see off the league leaders Wigan next week. Lytham 2nd XI 8 Winnington Park 1 WITH Paul Burnett and Kevin Bunten added to the squad and playing up front LSA looked far stronger than of late in this relegation battle.
They soon went ahead when Bunten scored from a well worked penalty corner. He then added a second after a good solo run before sliding the ball home past the oncoming keeper.
Justin Latham then made it 3-0 from a penalty corner just before half-time. Matt Greenhill and Paul Hans were both working hard in mid-field and that led to Bunten completing his first hat-trick for the club.
Paul Burnett scored after a goalmouth scramble and then added his second with a powerful drive from the edge of the circle. Bunten got his fourth goal after good approach work by Greenhill and Hans and finally Paul Hans finished the rout after putting a clearance back past the goalkeeper.
Winnington scored their goal shortly before the final whistle.
