WHILE travelling back to Blackpool from Southend last Saturday, I was happily basking in the fact that we had managed to bag another three points, towards our automatic promotion bid.
This time, it was not a wasted journey to the South, as the mighty Seasiders crushed The Shrimpers of Southend with an absolutely dazzling display of football. While we dominated the game from the start up until the final whistle, the lads at last showed the confidence in an away game, like they have had at home recently, and the whole team performed with a renewed determination to get us back into the Second Division for next season.
With Richie Wellens blossoming in midfield, his superb 16 yard goal, meant we were 1-0 up within 11 minutes. The second half continued even better with goals by both Paul Simpson and Richard Walker. Every credit must also be given to Phil Barnes, and his defence, as their self-assurance is increasing with every game.
This Saturday we welcome The Staggs of Mansfield to Bloomfield Road, and whilst they are lying in a mid table position at the moment, this will still be a vital game, as every point earnt now takes us one step further to an automatic promotion place.
On Tuesday The Seasiders endure another long journey, this time to Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road. Again this will be a tough game for our lads, as the "O's" are lying right behind us, and are battling for their own promotion place.
BSA are the Official Supporters Association of Blackpool F.C. and we arrange coach travel to all the away matches. If anyone is interested in travelling with us, to one of the remaining away games, please contact Francis on (01253) 762222 or Richard on (01253) 826776 for further details.
