THE Deputy Leader of Lancashire County Council, County Coun Frank McKenna, has pledged his full support for a bid for regeneration cash for the deprived wards of Waterside and Vivary Bridge in Colne.
Coun McKenna offered his support during a meeting with councillors at Nelson Town Hall to discuss the bid for a Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder Project.
He said: "I am delighted that Lancashire County Council will be working in partnership with Pendle Borough Council to bring additional government resources into the area.
"We will develop a bid for the Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder Project that if successful will bring an extra £1million into Pendle."
Waterside ward councillor Tim Ormrod said: "Pendle has an excellent record of winning regeneration monies." We have brought in Single Regeneration Budget funding and recently won £4million from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
"The Pathfinder Project will enable us to deliver improved services to residents in Waterside and Vivary Bridge. We want to involve the local community by identifying their priorities so that we invest in projects that local people want and deserve."
