RECENT correspondence shows that ratepayers in Blackpool are furious at the proposed rate increase with the possibility of D band properties increasing from £662.57 to £762.57, plus £67 for the police authority.
This means that the total for Blackpool's proposed new rate for D band property is £830.46.
Fylde ratepayers should be even more furious that Fylde D band properties are already paying £928.98, over £250 more than the current rate of £662.57 paid by Blackpool D band properties.
What do D band ratepayers on the St Annes side of Squires Gate Lane receive for the extra £250, as opposed to the Blackpool side of Squires Gate Lane, who pay less?
Fylde also have a proposed increase of 3.8 per cent which equals a £35.30 increase, making the Fylde new rate for band D £964.28, still £134 more than Blackpool proposed new rate.
It is high time Fylde had a rate reduction instead of wasting money on the totally useless domes in St Annes Square etc. etc.
It is also time 20 per cent prompt payments discounts were introduced for those who pay and would pay up in full, given a time limit of the first two weeks of the due dates, and five per cent for those paying half yearly in the first week of the due date. These discounts Fylde could well afford.
A Ratepayer,
