A MAN who prompted police to issued a TV appeal in a bid to track him down has been arrested and remanded in custody.
Edward O'Brien was picked up by police in Kilmarnock, Scotland, on Thursday after an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch Daily programme.
O'Brien, 22, was facing a charge of aggravated burglary at Burnley Crown Court.
Darwen Detective Sergeant Neil Hunter appeared on the programme in an effort to track down O'Brien, whose last given address was Edmund Street, Darwen.
Calls led detectives to the Kilmarnock area, where he has family, and Darwen CID worked closely with colleagues at Strathclyde Police
DS Hunter said: "O'Brien was arrested on Thursday morning and I was contacted the following day. He was brought down to Lancashire on the Friday and appeared in court on Saturday where he was remanded in custody.
"The appeal on Crimewatch was a great success and it is definitely something I would do again. We received a number of calls, some before the programme had finished, that gave us some very good leads."
