WREXHAM 0 BURY 1 BURY beat Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground for the first time last night.
In the bitter cold and with a strong wind blowing end to end, Bury produced an accomplished performance and looked by far the more convincing of two sides.
Bury had dominated proceedings in the first half with the wind in their favour, but defended well in the second when the home side had the advantage.
However, the game turned when newly signed from Liverpool Jon Newby was struck in the face, perhaps unintentionally by Dave Ridler, who was sent off by the referee.
The home crowd became hostile thereafter, but in a game of few clear cut chances it was Newby who slotted home the winner in the dying moments picking up a fine ball from Colin Cramb, and the travelling Shakers faithful went home well pleased with the events of the day.
