FYLDE music lovers are in for a real treat this summer when the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra presents the Last Night of the Proms on Lytham Green.
Each summer the orchestra wows audiences throughout the country with its traditional British performance and this year renowned conductor Roderick Dunk will be leading the proceedings on July 1.
The Manchester-based orchestra is certainly unique with its claim to be the only commercially viable symphony orchestra in Britain as well as being the only one dedicated to touring nationally.
From 5pm visitors are invited to bring picnics to the grounds, before the orchestra tunes up at 8pm for the overture Die Meistersingers, followed by Tchaikovsky's famous Nutcracker Suite No 1 with soloist Juliet Schlemann.
After the interval the fun really starts with all the flag-waving and foot-stomping that goes with Proms favourites like Rule Britannia and Jerusalem and to top off the evening Land of Hope and Glory will be accompanied by a synchronised firework display.
