SAW RED: Bury school children on a weekend trip to Amsterdam expected a cultural tour of old canals, traditional cobble-stoned streets and kerbside cafes. Instead they spent just three hours in a city centre sex-riddled shopping precinct.
The party of 180 pupils from Elton Secondary School, aged between 12 and 16, made the 48-hour trip which was plagued by a series of misfortunes.
Headmaster Mr Bernard Haughton told the Bury Times: "It is regrettable that some of the children saw the shadier side of Amsterdam."
MAKE MINE A DOUBLE: Bar prices at the Farmers Arms in Warth Fold Road, Bury, included a pint of mild for 18p, bitter and lager at 20p a pint, Guinness at 16p and whisky, gin, rum and vodka available at just 17p a shot.
CINEMA WATCH: X-citing films on show this week at Bury's Classic were They Love Sex, Lusty Lovers, The Naughty Stewardesses and The Love Keys.
