A SWAN could have been faced with a charge of "careless diving" after he swooped onto Market Street in Bury on Friday morning (March 16).
The bird caused a flap with motorists when it wandered into the path of the traffic.
The swan is pictured calmly walking on the road as concerned passers-by try to herd it on to the pavement, away from passing traffic.
Fears that it couldn't get off the ground were disproved when the swan suddenly took flight and disappeared to safety.
