TWO pensioners had handbags stolen in incidents which police say could be linked.
The first theft happened in Gardner Road, Prestwich, at 11am on Thursday (March 15) when an 86-year-old's bag was stolen after she was approached from behind.
Police say that the bag contained documents and a small amount of cash. The thief was around 6ft tall and wearing a blue jacket.
Four hours later a second theft took place in nearby Egerton Street when a 63-year-old was also targeted. A small amount of cash was taken along with keys and credit cards.
The thief was aged around 15, about 5ft 8in tall and wearing a navy blue fleece.
Police say that the same person could be behind both thefts. Anyone with information should call Bury police on 856 8157.
For the incident in Gardner Road they should quote reference number GMP81519V/01, or GMP81789P/O1 for the crime in Egerton Street.
