A POPULAR help group may be forced to wind up its advice centre due to lack of funds.
The Jinnah project, based on Ingham Street, Bury, offers benefits and welfare advice to ethnic minorities, and practical support for carers.
Launched three years ago with funding from the Opportunity for Volunteering Scheme and National Lottery, the services have proved popular.
But with financial help due to end in June the future is uncertain, although the project's day centre for the elderly, funded by Bury Council social services, will remain open.
Volunteers visit the homes of carers and the elderly across Bury, with money needed for building maintenance, training and volunteer expenses.
Applications have been made to various agencies and staff are now asking for fund-raisers.
Project co-ordinator Shakeela Ali said: "If we don't secure funding and close down, we're concerned about the welfare of the community and where people would go for help, because we are so popular ."
Anyone wishing to raise money for the project can contact them on 763 6777.
