AN open day is being held for residents in the Springs and Fishpool area of Bury so they can find out more about a special community project.
They can meet the team of volunteers who work on the New Springs Project and view its newly-refurbished building at 22 Cornwall Drive.
Activities such as free advice sessions, environmental improvement plans, youth work and senior citizen groups, carried out during the year will be displayed to entice more people to become involved.
Project team members Sam Rowe said: "There is a free buffet lunch and everyone who attends can be entered into our draw for a share of £30 vouchers. In return, we want their help in saying what events and activities they think we should run this year."
He added: "Like any other group, we need local people to get involved and lend a hand. This could be the first step to helping us put the Springs Estate on the map."
The day, which has been staged with the aid of a grant from the National Lotteries Charity Board, will be held at the project office from 10am to 3pm on Saturday March 31.
Further details are available by contacting the project office on 764 0750.
