A BANNED driver who got behind the wheel to help bump-start a friend's car, is awaiting sentence.
Burnley Magistrates heard how single dad Russell Fox, 40, had gone just 75 yards of his planned 200 yard journey when he was stopped by police.
Fox, of Hurtley Street, Burnley, admitted driving while disqualified and not having insurance. He was bailed until April 18, for a pre-sentence report.
The court was told Fox had been banned for three years after being convicted of drink driving.
Trevor Grice, defending, said Fox had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity, had co-operated with police and there had been no criticism of his driving.
The defendant had been doing a friend a favour.
The previous week he had borrowed £10 from the friend and the friend had said he would forget it if he could help jump-start his car.
Fox got into a vehicle, had planned to drive only 200 yards, but had gone just 75 yards when he was stopped by police.
