A MAN serving time for burglaries has been given a concurrent sentence for a separate raid.
Kevin Austin was given three years and nine months' prison to run alongside the term he is already serving.
Preston Crown Court heard that other offences for which he was dealt with last year post-dated the one he was appearing on yesterday.
Austin, 42, of no fixed address, had been committed for sentence on a charge of burgling a home in Waddington Fell.
Mr Neil Standage, prosecuting, said the offence was committed at a couple's home in June last year.
The wife heard the sound of footsteps and floorboards creaking. She was confronted by Austin who came down the stairs and made off.
A large amount of jewellery had been taken. The haul totalled more than £11,000. The defendant's fingerprints were found on a jewellery box.
Mr Martin Hackett, defending, said in September last year Austin was given three years and nine month sentence for several burglary offences in Burnley and Brierfield. He was due for release in June 2004. The current offence pre-dated the other ones.
